Sir Charles Parsons School, Newcastle
A new £41 build SEN school under the Governments BSF (Building Schools for the Future) program. The school opened in April 2012 for 160 severally disabled children.
The school was constructed by Robert McAlpine and designed by Parsons Brinkerhoff. Because of close work with the original Sir Charles Parson’s school Hill-Rom were chosen to provide the Overhead Tracking. The schools teaching staff were part of the project team so had involvement from an early stage to help advise of the hoists required so they were designed to reflect the needs of the pupils.
The school has over 70 Overhead systems that allow direct transfer from classrooms to changing rooms, quick and direct transfer from all pools to all changing rooms and even systems installed 5M high in the hall/gym area.
